Amazing how things advance without evidence based research. Yikes if I owned a jump company and a lawyer has access to your article. Ugh
I think one needs to say. In my subjective opionion it will open?
And yes the double blind study is funny as heck.
But one could say objectively, if it doesn't open, well some folks have actually lived. Lol
So just jump. No worries.

Not only double blind, but placebo-controlled.

A placebo parachute is something to wrap your mind around.

If you are able to convince yourself that the placebo worked, did it?

It is entirely possible that the placebo has no effect, but that the individual believes it did, missing the factor or factors that did have the desired effect.

If we're talking about parachutes, however, my guess is it was the parachute.

The parachute article is from the Christmas edition of the British Medical Journal - it deserves an IgNoble prize. I like the call for volunteers for a double blind placebo controlled trial of parachutes (or not)

From my limited experience as a ski tester, it's very hard to be completely objective. You hear and read about certain skis, you receive the test skis from people who are possibly friends/pretty/grouchy/martial arts experts (maybe all 4), you ski the brand and model. Double blind that process!

Same with wine tasting. Even trained, professional palates are terrible at judging wine
