I just got a Jetta TDI with all the fixings. 1000 miles later, the options I must have are almost everything
I think their Carnet feature (VW version of on star ) isn't needed. I know it's the best thing to have in a crash but they packaged all features together and most aren't needed and are for the lazy/spoiled; I can look up my own directions in the nav system. Yes a realize that participating in this thread makes me a little spoiled and lazy. I like the idea of the maintenance check but I'm not convinced yet it is really needed.
I do love driving it and getting 43mpg doing 80. I know I'll miss the Xterra this winter, but not the 18mpg.
Not having Bluetooth now is like still having a rotary phone. Having it come with iPhone 4&5 charge cables was nice but not needed
Same with a navigation system. I use it not just for going places I'm not familiar with but for watching my time (i.e. Do I have time to stop at Starbucks). My daughter uses her navigation systems "arrival time" as a challenge
. An integrated nav system means that when I'm blasting music, I don't miss any directions because it turns down the music when the pleasant lady says "Please turn right now".
It's good to have 1st world problems.
