My Dream Vacation

I think I am going to work on putting this together for next March.  I have always wanted to spend a week skiing and then fly straight down to the BVI's and charter a boat for a week.  This may be the year!  Anyone ever done this or something similar?

I say go for it.

Back in March 2004, I was in Oahu for a week.  Flew back to Alabama on a Saturday, and flew out next day to Anchorage, Alaska.  Skied Aleyska on Monday.  Had to fly all the way back to Alabama to bring family home (Oahu was a vacation, Anchorage was business).  Was definitely a contrast in weather, but was fun :).

I flew directly from Hawaii to the Gathering in Tahoe last year. It was great! The jetlag was the only hard part. The week of swimming in Kona's beautiful reefs rehabbed my aging and injured body well enough that I could ski 100%.

Definitely go for it. It will be good for you and give awesome memories forever.

Of course I'm used to this kind of mix. In Socal we often waterski in the morning in our desert lake, snow ski in the afternoon at the local mountains and catch some evening waves at the beach. Enjoy the ride!

You guys are doing it backasswards.  Ya gotta go ski hard in some nice wintry mountains and then go relax and float around in the tropics.  Eleeski, I used to live on the water in SoCal.  Would go sailing one day or ride bikes along the beach in 70 degree weather and then ski the next day up in Big Bear.  Mammoth was a good 8 hour drive though.

Not fully vacation, but two colleagues who happened to be dating were on vacation in Aspen when they got a call for emergency customer service in Hawaii. So they dragged their ski gear to Hawaii, took care of business, spent a couple days in the surf, and then went back to their vacation.

Crashed hard in the bumps at Alyeska. in the way back; and broke a collarbone. Went to town got is set, got pain meds, and got on an airplane to Kauai that same night.  Spent 2 weeks snorkeling and kicking around the island. That worked out pretty well at the time.

Go for it.

Been going on 3-5 ski trips a year for last 25-30 years. Every trip is like that.
