MX88 or MX83, another length question

Hi all!

Coming from a pair of Kendo 177's I want to test the MX-series of skies.

I'm 39 years old, 176cm and 70kg and in fairly good shape and I can enjoy some GS style of grooming skiing on as much as softer off-piste/mountaneering style.

Would you recommend the MX83 or MX88?

According to Kästle product configurator, I should have 178cm MX88 or 183cm MX83.

However everyone else seems to recommend 173cm MX83 for my size because of the +2cm added "real" length.

What should I do? Got no possibility to try them out I'm afraid.

If you want to do a bit of off piste, the MX88 in the 178 would be the choice here. The MX83 in the 183 would be the second choice since you are looking for a GG feel but the 88 will give you the best of both worlds.

I'm checking the configurator some more, and this is the recommendation based on Skier Type:

Intermediate -168cm MX88

Expert - 178cm MX88

How good is "Expert" thought to be?

Maybe 178cm is to long of a ski (I'm 5ft 9.5in, 154 lbs)?

If you are skiing a 177 Kendo with no issues, you should have no problem with the 178 MX88...but I am not as smart as any automated "configurator". ;)

Im not questioning your experience, I'm very greatful for your input! It's just that I can't test any of the skies to compare so I'm doing as much research as possible. And checking the vendors own recommendations feels like valid input also smile.gif

ski size recommendations on websites are very, very conservative, online size charts the same way!

I wouldn't give them any credit... all my skis are at least 1 size up from what the size charts say!

I am 5'10"  170 lbs and have the MX88 in 178 length, never felt them to be to long am an advanced extremely close to 60 year old skier, If you are aggressive you will be fine, they want to be skied hard.
