A-Basin Closing Weekend 2014 - Page 2

Yesterday was lots of fun. Slush at its best, from opening to closing. This morning is sunny, and it should be a great closing day.  By the end of the day yesterday, the entire ski patrol was standing watch aside Lake Reveal, which is fairly long at this point (tee hee).

Are there still bumps on Ramrod?
The US v Portugal soccer game starts at 4pm Mt Time. That gives you time to ski all day but not for last chair.

Saturday, ironically for the 1st day of summer, it was often overcast.
Today, I'm sure I'll have the air conditioning on in the car getting there.

Lifts closed at 2:30. I guess it's over wink.gif

Arapahoe Basin posted some pics on their Facebook wall with random workers holding up a sign that says 241.

That's a wrap.

It started very dark and ominous this morning but the sun was out by 8:30. Clouds returned later on and I encountered rain on my way out. All in all, the skiing was very nice, the crowds not too bad and the beer was refreshing.

This ski area is open?

Lake Reveal

Serious sun cupping

The Flintstones

Pond skimming was happening big time

In true A-Basin style, after the snow, hail, rain, lightning, and thunder, the sun came out 5 minutes before the lifts closed for the season.

(Photos later.)

Well can see why they closed. Looking sparse.

Contrast that last pic to the opening day $#!@show.  I know which day I would rather be there.

The past 3 seasons I skied later than this (Mammoth, Bachelor/Crystal, Beartooth Pass), but this year my last day was May 11.

Wow, a dozen days later....

Happy 4th of July!

In case anyone was wishing there was enough snow to ski today... check out this video from July 4th, 2011 for a little anti-stoke:

OMG, that lift line is unreal!

Wow, there was a lot of snow in 2011 and Lake Reveal was so different!

At least there are boobies to stare at in the lift line?
