First Yoga Class [starting when over 50] - Page 3

Ditto to what Steve said.  I'll add, whether I ski or not (God forbid) I will continue to do yoga.  It has helped me too many different ways.  At 56 I'm more flexible than I was at 30 when I "thought" I was flexible. 


It definitely helps with skiing as I have a greater range of motion not just in my hips, but my hamstrings and glutes. My back too. On top of that, I'm way more body aware.  Skiing is easier when you can actually get in the position.


Everyday, 7 days a week, I get up and do yoga for at least 30 minutes.  After I do either cardio or strength training.  On Sat and Sun I've extended yoga to 1.5 to 2 hours and the rest of the day is doing chores around the yard.


On top of all that is the improvements to my health from giving my grey matter a chance to decompress. 


I'm more apt to give up drinking than yoga and I don't see that happening either :beercheer:

Thanks for the updates!  I'm not doing yoga, but do work on hip flexibility more than before.

I thought I would throw in this thread as a couple books were previously brought up.

I've read (listened to) "Younger Next Year" and "Thinner This Year". The latter a follow on to YNY.

Another book I found incredibly helpful in understanding our bodies and how to properly take care of them (or at least do a better job of it) is called "Super Genes". Simply amazing.

It goes in a bit deeper to some of the principles brought up in YNY and TTY. More into the science of things. Gave me a better understanding.
