I know over the past few years Aus has had poor to average seasons, especially early on, and NZ has had average to above average seasons.
I would be very interested to see some statistics regarding the correlation of 1 country having a good and the other having a poor snow season.
Do you have enough data to make such investigations?
I updated the Spencer Creek table. The best I can do is correlate Spencer Creek snow depth to June-Sept. snowfall at the NZ areas. JamminAu expected negative correlations and I expected low correlations. In fact for 15 years at Mt. Hutt the correlation was +57% and for 22 years at the Remarkables the correlation was +45%. Notable good years in both Oz and NZ were 1996 and 2000. Notable bad years in both were 1993 and 1998. So this makes the good year in Oz and bad in NZ even more unusual.
