I purchased a plane ticket with some left over Southwest points a few weeks ago when I heard A-Basin was extending through this weekend. It was most definitely an impulse buy...
Anyway, I am arriving at 8am local time in Denver THIS Friday. My original plan was to get to A-Basin as quickly as possible, after picking up a rental car, and skiing until the snow sucked, or they closed for the day. I am staying with a buddy in Breck, and I had planned to head that way after skiing for the day. He just found out he now has to work until 10pm Friday, which kind of throws a kink in those plans. I am trying to decide what to do with my day on Friday, since I would have to find something to do between 2:30 (when ABasin closes) and around 10pm when he is off work.
This is where I need some assistance...
My (rough) ideas are:
1) Skip skiing on Friday (even though I really want to ski) and find some attractions to check out in Denver and/or the high country, and spend my day seeing things I never have the time to check out during prime ski season. My goal would be to arrive in Breck around 10pm still.
2) Head straight from the airport to A-Basin, ski until it sucks or they close, and then find something to do/see somewhere around A-Basin/Breck/within a reasonable driving distance, ultimately ending back in Breck by 10pm.
3) Something you all come up with.
I'll have my skis, a rental car, and a tolerance to drive a moderate distance out of my way, provided it's worth it and I can make it to Breck by 10pm.
So, now it's your turn (please and thank you!). Ok? GO! :)
P.S. - I kind of have to get this stuff figured out by tomorrow night for planning purposes, so no pressure, ha!
