The marketing war at Squaw

I love politics and I can't get over the political tactics which backfire time and time again. Luckily the Park City fiasco overshadows them. It's the strangest process with even stranger politicking.

The latest saga is the revelation about spending. I can tell you there was a huge swing of formerly uncommitted residents in about an hour of this blog hitting the interwebz.

Was there as much kerfuffle with other Masterplans or is this one of those "only in California" things?

Vet,

Those FPPC statements are a load of fun

I guess Squaw is the Sole Funder of Save Olympic Valley (SOV)

And the mailers had better reflected it, or its an FPPC Violation

And reading the FPPC statement is even More Funnnnnnn

Seems like the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer do not even live in Olympic valley

They like Marin Better

Guess only Squaw wants to save Olympic valley for massive condo developments :D

Branding this a "war" sucks. If it really is a war, a tiny fraction of the people with interests there are picking a fight with a giant corporation. Caught in the middle are all the second property owners (a huge majority of the homes there) and the visitors to the mountain. That group has been quite stable with Placer county's oversight. I don't like SOV or IOV. Sucks for me.

They (tiny fraction of the people with interests) are exercising their legal right to self determination,

Squaw(Giant Corporation) is exercising its legal rights under law too

With all the lawyers on the SOV FPPC statement there is gonna be a lawsuit thrown in for good measure

Enjoy the fun

I really hate the war aspect of all of this.  I wish KSL would at least be willing to sit down with the FOSV, IOV, etc. and hear them out.  Some of their suggestions for improving those village plans are actually quite good.  If we're going to have a big village let's at least do it right.  They just keep digging their heels in deeper and deeper and it's going to backfire.

I was talking to all sides as they pointed blame at the other for not calling. If only I had spare change for a public phone things might've been different :(

Eric

imo, It's all about the rezoning and the 'explosion' of housing on about 100 vacant blocks + a lot of other acres. Sleepy Hollow vs Suburbia and the Mall.
