I certainly don't want to carry on other not so fun threads but the line shopping comments made me think.
Line shopping may be one of the most important skills a skier can acquire.
While learning new skills is important, choosing a line that is within your skillset will give you the safest and best show off descent. If you are the best skier on the mountain, there may be only one skiable line. You'd better shop that line just to survive. If you're just out to impress your friends, absolutely shop for the line that will make you look the best.
Being able to recognize a good line is a skill that can certainly be taught. In the lessons I've enjoyed, the line selection analysis has been as valuable as skills coaching.
Anticipate where you want to be and start turning there at this point vs mythically bend the ski. Couldn't resist adding a bit of controversy.
