GNAR is pretty common at Squaw, but nowhere else. I want to change that. We need a few people per ski area to work together to pick lines, name them if they are unnamed, and assign them point values. One task force per ski area, essentially. If this actually takes off I'd put together a website with one section for each ski area.

I've already started working on this for Snowbird. If anyone wants to help me put together the details for Snowbird and/or Alta, let me know.

If you want to get involved for a ski area other than Snowbird/Alta, post here and try to find others interested.

Hopefully next winter we can have this set up for a fair amount of ski areas and get some big groups together to play GNAR.

BTW I'm the best skier on the mountain!

I'd be really interested in GNAR at WP & the Basin!

Pick out a few choice lines and have at it.

I like it. I suck too bad to be able to rate anything meaningfully. In fact, I suck so bad I probably wouldn't be able to even ski anything that rates as GNAR. But I still like the idea.

I like this idea as long as we can pick GNAR lines on non-GNAR runs. So I am saying there should be levels of GNAR.

For example, I think we should rate magic carpets for propensity for FAIL. I bet there are tons of people here who would fall off those things, and that shit would hurt. The video would also be way better than the GNAR of looking at people's skis turn.

So I voted yes.

Edit: there's apparently already a thread for this.

Feel stupid asking this, but what is GNAR?

This movie? (Haven't seen it, will watch)

http://unofficialnetworks.com/gnar/

Specific type of terrain or trail?

Google returns a wide variety of results...

Only five minutes in the movie, starting to understand this topic now. Crazy (more ways than one) skiers. Don't know how well this would work on an average day in the east...
