Wanna hear me say good things about Vail (and win some skis) - Page 3

Liked. Your problem is the leaders video is at the top of their page and yours is buried under a bunch of others. To make it fair they should move both to the top in plain view. Also, I got on my Facebook for the first time in about 3 years to like that, so I better get some awesome Vail praise and maybe some love for Keystone while you are at it.

Keystone was my favorite place to ski in Summit for years and years and years. I would spend my entire day alternating between going stupid fast on Starfire (back when they groomed it, I don't know if that's the case anymore?), beating my knees the moguls everywhere else back there, and hitting the trees in The Outback. The skiing on that mountain is really underrated.

Edit- and my real problem is somebody is buying likes. The post being further down isn't the issue because I was in it when real people were the ones liking things.

Yep, still groomed. That's the run I was testing the speed limits of the demo skis on. If Skitracks was correct, I hit 55-60 mph more than once.

Back when I was young and stupid, full tuck on 205 GS skis down Starfire was the standard order. Even a little roll in the snow was putting me airborne for 30+ feet. I doubt I was hitting much over 60, but I'd be surprised if it was less than that.

Keystone saw a lot less traffic in those days.

So he obviously went out and bought likes. Now he has 300+ likes, mostly from India. :/

Knowing the planning that goes into running these contests, I'd be pretty sure that person will be disqualified so don't worry about it too much. I would contact the contest runners though, just to give them a heads up. I'm going to share your post one more time right now.

he probably just posted the link in some 100,000 member indian FB group and likes happened.

So the contest is over?  Hopefully you get something out of all this hard work.

It is over.  Based on likes I am #3, but #1 obviously bought likes, and #2 was a relative of a sponsored athlete that used his pick for likes. No word yet on how they are handling things.

I think the guy that bought likes should be kicked out. I'm good with whatever past that.

Yeah.

Obviously they are trying to figure out what to do with buying likes, and (maybe) how close a relationship with a sponsored athlete is kosher. In my eyes, when your entire contest entry is "This is a picture of my sponsored boyfriend who you gave free skis cause he is awesome but I want free skis too, vote for me" I wouldn't let the entry stand. But that's a judgment call, not outright cheating.

My suspicion is they may be giving out multiple pairs of skis, but who knows? Even if they do, that doesn't mean I get some... :/

I'm kinda bummed because I feel I put the most effort into making a quality entry, and I hoped I would get more votes on that merit. Who knew it was so tough to get 100 some facebook likes? Wow.

I can't tell everyone how much I appreciate all the help. It was really, really, really cool to see so many people spread it on the site, share it on Facebook, etc. You guys are awesome!!!!

Good luck. The video was fun.

They kicked the buying votes out, but I am #2. Have to settle with a swag bag... :/

Still, thanks everyone! It was fun!

Let's start a begging thread - I want to see anachronism get his skis.

Free pair for being #2 but creating a lot of market exposure on a popular & international ski forum? :-)

Sorry you didn't score the skis, but so close! Also gave me an excuse to surface on facebook after the usual neglect. Happy to help next time.

Counting the days to first run...

Sounds like a Skynard song. "If I skied here tomorrow, would you still remember me?"

FWIW I would have "liked" your FB video post, but have been on a road trip to help family move, then got sick frown.gif then a two day conference, so I've missed a lot. Hope Meier gifts you a pair.

LOL, I lived in Nashville for many years and had lots of musician friends. If I attended a gig, any lull in the music was sure to be filled with a yelled 'FREE BIRD!' request. Universal running joke for musicians 'round the world.

'FREE PAIR' well earned, no joking there!

At the Goldminers Daughter at Alta the dining room is open at one end to the bar underneath. One night during the gathering we were hanging out drinking wine when open mic night started in the bar. Some of the performers were mind-bogglingly bad (well, all of them actually). During a lull our waiter yells "FREEBIRD".
He got a big tip.
