Looking for a neck warmer/face mask/balaclava

So I'm looking to buy a face mask / neck warmer / balaclava. I live in Canada. Currently looking at this one and this one. The only thing is I can't really find any info on them or any detailed reviews. Even the Chaos CTR website is fairly lacking in information on them. So does anyone have any face mask recommendations for me.  Maybe someone has used one of these? I don't want to grow out a beard guys so keep those responses to yourself please. I get it beards are sick, don't want one.

I doubt you'll find any reviews on line other then feed back from those that bought them.

For that price, I doubt folks would bother to comment unless there are really bad.

Fwiw, I wear a balaclava all winter mostly because I want to snug up the helmet. I don't like, for most days, the mask to rest against my face, because I want the warm humid air to escape easily. Those masks look like they fit snugly. I have the mask up, but away from my face to block wind mostly. Now, on the super frigid days, I'll add a neoprene mask and it's snug, but at lunch I need to blot and squish it and run it under the hand drier because it gets soaked. Something to think about.

I've never used the ColdAvenger, but people I've asked love them. As long as you don't the Darth Vader look..

My thoughts exactly^^^

Whoa..... I hear Whitefish is famous for their chairlift conversations but if lots of the folks were wearing these ColdAvengers.... I don't know man, I might be too scared to talk.

I've only seen a couple, which is odd because it's a Montana company.

I ordered the CTR HEADWALL CHIMNEY for wicked cold days in Vermont and couldn't be happier.  It has a short cut fur lined lower neck area with adjustable velcro tabs and a windproof, snow proof, everything proof material on the outside, spandex hood for helmet use, really nice cut so theres no bunching around the neck or chin.  It uses a "floating" face structure that allows you to manipulate a rubber wire around the top portion of the face for a specific fit.  I thought it would be too much, but no way.  Wicks, stays dry, eliminates space and wind in my helmet, and stays OFF my face, hovers instead.  reserved for cold cold days.  I use an under armor baclava for fairly cold days, but try to wear nothing most the time.  This was a game changer for a recent 24 hour race.

Chaos Hats/ CTR product…..definitely getting one for each family member, worth every penny

I ended up going with a Chaos CTR Howler Multi Tasker Pro because it's apparently better windproofing and more waterproof than the Chinook and Adrenaline that I was looking at before. I went over to Amazon.COM instead of .CA and found hundreds more reviews on CTR products and was happy to hear they're great. I like a snugger face mask. Currently using a hand knitted one that is quite snug that I got from a friend. And ya I only need it for the really cold windy days here in Canada. This winter was brutal getting down into the -40's with wind chill.

Thanks for the responses guys, also the Cold Avenger is cool but I could never rock the Dart Vader look.

I've had trouble with all balaclavas, including the Cold Avenger. They either fog up my goggles, interfere with normal breathing or get all wet and clammy inside. I only used it once, but the Cold Avenger worked pretty well for a while, then collected a lot of water vapor and got all moist inside. Seems gimmicky from my experience.

Luckily, my face tends to have the durability of boot leather. I rarely find a need for a mask.

I need to get one. I irritated my lungs XCing in -20 and it's taking a long time to heal.

I've never liked face masks.  I wear a helmet with a balaclava underneath and  a neck gaiter.  If it's really cold, I'll add a second gaiter and pull it up over my lower face.  I've found this more comfortable and versatile than a mask.

I've happily skied down to 35 below with this setup (although truth be told, the last sub -30 was in my pre-helmet days). I think I did about thirty sub-zero days this winter, and never felt the need for more.

The cold avenger looks like something you'd use to grind fiberglass.  (c:
