fingers are crossed :)

I hope you guys want to ski bumps today

Sure I could use something punishing to get in better shape and I live on the hill this week so I can run home to the hot tub after a couple hours when I get tired LOL.  That weather forecast is VERY promising, fingers and toes will be crossed.

sorry about alta today. Me and Diane(well more diane) wanted a chill ski day and it was nice to get her on steeper stuff that was seemingly less intimidating for her. Currently snowbird is scaring her.

See ya guys tomorrow at the bird.

Josh takes us into Elevator shaft and the book ends today.  Nice to have a guide that knows the hill cause I'm a scared wuss and Elevator Shaft was a blast and the snow was nice.  I never go into this crap (it was not crap) without powder.

Josh showing the way in.

Some perspectives of the steepness.

Josh's gf.

Grumpy niece.

So much easier than it looked.

King Grump

King Grump passing Mrs's Grump with the camera.

Fun run, possibly more photos later.

As I said more to come. Josh makes his student cry (looks that way to me) on the way to the bookends, the South Chute was skied and we had some great apres ski time at the Cliff today.  Another fun spring day at Snowbird.

Out at the book ends looking for the snow.

hmm, Is she crying?  What could he possibly have said to her.

South Chute at the end of the day from Mrs's Grumps view at the top.

Josh hot dogging in the South Chute.  My angle really didn't show the grade.

Diane making her way down.

Mrs. Grump

And finally King Grump.

Breezing his way down.

Guess they needed a rest.

What's more appropriate for Apres Ski then analyzing ski videos.

And the first dinner (snack).

A swim.

View from the hot tub.

Fun at the pool.

Dinner with friends.

Not a recovery....it's a very high level "foot squirt" maneuver.  :)

Hard snow today at the top, corn over a hard base at the lower areas.  Not a bad ski day if you picked your run carefully.

Rain changed to snow about 1 hour ago... sideways blowing snow falling fairly hard.  The weather says only 1 to 3" to accumulate but it's looking like more right now if it continues.

WasatchSnowForecast is calling for 3-6 tonight and 4-8 Friday into Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed!

I'm praying for 12" lol.  It will take that to make the coral reefs skiable tomorrow!

hope its dense snot at first to keep us off the coral reef.

Judging by lady salina's conditions report we made a great choice going mountain biking today.

flowly trail down in Alpine, Ut

let us know ASAP Lisa what is actually happening up there. We are showing up and hoping for the best early ut if its bad we are finding some MTBing somewhere.

Looks like you had fun today.  Nice looking trail.  I'll send you a message when I wake and post a photo.  Really hoping it's okay.

The top really didn't soften today and mineral was crusty, but not as crusty as the top of Chip's and Silver Fox.  It was seriously a straight line slide down the groomed part of chips at the top and riding coral bumps in Silver Fox (if i recall the right names lol).  The nicest area was little cloud chair running regulator and the bumps under that area.  Even that was pretty deep corn over some scrape as the wind came up this aft and started to chill it you had to really watch. Big Emma was mostly fine, deep corn over hard surface but no really deep sloopy stuff today.

If it looks bad we're thinking of a day off too.  I'll be sure to let you know early.  I always wake early.

so 4 inches is the call did they get more or less?

Less, I'd say not much more than a dusting. Just woke and it looks pretty dry out there, and it's cold.  I can't wait to see how it skis LOL.

@Josh Matta This would be my balcony and I can hear the wind.

Alta says 4", tho they often (but not always) under-report, and there's usually (but not always) more on the upper mountain.

Snowbird says 4" too, but if there's 4" out there it's farther up the mountain then the base.  The trees at the base aren't glistening with the new snow cover and I can still see yesterday's brown snow on the bumps at the bottom though it is whiter than it was.

I'll hope when i get up the mountain that the 4" that they say fell here all blew up hill and there's a bunch sitting in the middle ;o).

I don't expect it to feel pretty out there today.  I'll probably do a couple runs to see what it's like, hit the gym, the pool and the hot tub. Tomorrow should be a little warmer so hopefully better.

Not so bad, just stopping for lunch now.  There was for sure 4 " and you can find a little bit of wind stuff if you are willing to ski anything to get there.

Fun stuff found this morning, no point in showing what it takes to get to it, trust us well enough there was a reason we got fresh tracks at 11am.

Snowing again to add a little atmosphere to the day.

Oh yea one for the stretch pant thread... I'll get it there.

King Grump letting it rip.

Kicking up the powder.

A few fresh tracks.

Mrs. Grump too.

Found some more... Looks nice doesn't it.

He really can make anything look good.

Another fresh line.

Can't complain... (getting here was another story)

Scoping out the line.

Just what is over there?

Okay.

Now to show what we were really skiing through to find those little stashes....  If it's not pure white it's ice.

Well fingers crossed for tomorrow, that storm that hit Squaw is coming here and its now snowing.  So calling for 5" to 9" tomorrow an only 1" tonight... we've had in inch of wet already though and it's getting colder by the minute.  Show will continue through Sunday so tomorrow mid day should be looking good. http://opensnow.com/location/snowbird

Yea, looks like it is going to setup nicely.

6 inches of snow out of .8 inches of moisture content. that is some very very dense snow.

Diane is making the call for alta today and snowbird tomorrow. If any of you are up at Alta look for the blue suit and you will find me.
