328mm boots in 327mm bindings?

My boots are 327mm bsl, my dad's are 328mm bsl. Is it safe for him to use my skis (assuming I adjust the DIN to his desired setting) or is the 1mm difference in bsl going to make the forward pressure too high/too low? We have tried each others' skis before and been fine, but not had any falls, so I don't know if it will make them release too easily/not easily enough. Thanks.

If it makes a difference, bindings are Salomon STH Driver 14, my boots are Salomon Impact 120, my dad's boots are Rossignol (not sure on the model).

You should be fine, most bindings do not even have the the ability to adjust for 1mm. I am not sure if any can discern that difference, even any of the worm heels.

That's what I was hoping. Thanks! I'll keep checking back so if anyone else agrees/disagrees, please post.

Isn't there some kind of within 3mm rule?

You can't just interchangeboots into bindings based on what the listed BSL is. The only way to do it safely is to put the boot in and make sure the forward pressure is right. I have two pairs of boots that are both listed as 325, but one boot is significantly smaller and the forward pressure is wrong based on the other boot.

That said, as long as you're not wiggling in the bindings and not skiing at high speeds you should be OK. I wouldn't ski fast or through chattery snow with that setup though.

The only "rule" that exists is that a binding is only safe for the boot it was adjusted with it in.

I don't understand how the Boot Sole Length (as opposed to the SIZE) could be identical and the forward pressure would be different.  The BSL should EQUAL the sole length as that is what the number is supposed to be.

yeah, it is written with the 5 second rule when food falls on the floor. ;)

Hey, didn't you see the headlines about that recently? It is sort of true.

Because the listed BSL is not exact from brand to brand, and boot to boot. I also have a binding that is adjustable to 1mm, so being a little off means the dildo will rotate when you grab it.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably take my skis and my dad's boots to a shop and ask if they line up right (with forward pressure etc) just to be sure.

Like a few mentioned above, I had been skiing Nordica Firearrows all season at a 305mm bsl, and tried a narrower Tecnica Inferno later in the season, which was also a 305mm bsl.  I was surprised when the forward pressure adjustment wasn't correct when I stepped in with the Tecnicas.  I was even more surprised when it took not just a turn or two, but several turns amounting to several millimeters, to get the forward pressure correct again.  Same deal for various binding makes.  I figured it just had something to do with the shape of the shell of the boot and how it interfaced with the bindings.  But after measuring the actual boot lengths, the Nordica was pretty close to the stated 305mm, but the Tecnica was closer to a 302, even though it was marked as 305.
