Head REV85 Pros now, or wait for fall deals?

I definitely need new daily drivers, and have a line on new REV 85 Pros w/ PRD12 factory bindings for $580 delivered. Strongly tempted to pull the trigger. Whaddy'a think? - should I do it, or wait to see what a patroller discount can get me on the new 2014/15 lineups? Is there really anything super worth waiting for over these? I'm looking for an 80-something does-everything-well ski that doesn't require warp speeds to get working but can still go fairly fast, and the REV 85 Pro's in 177cm sound like a really good pick.

Me: 5'10", 165 lbs, advanced (PSIA 8 or so) and improving. Mostly on-piste in the Midwest, but looking to spend more time on steeps, bumps and crud. Deep powder isn't a factor, I already have something else for that. I like my buddy's 2012 Dynastar Legend 85's, but can't find a good set of the 178's.

Just looking for a sense check 'cause I'm not made of money.

guessing those 85's are from Asogear in Canada?

If so they are great to deal with and will get to you very quickly.

If there was a bit more season left I'd tell you to go ahead now and get some use  out of them before the snow's gone but we're getting very close to closing day on most of the resorts.  Your call as you should be able to use them a couple times now and that has to be worth something?

Also, contact Start Haus. They carry Head (amongst many others) and have some stupid pricing going on right now.

It appears the Start Haus website is only showing the 163's as those got blown out at a crazy price.  Doing a quick search, there are not many 177's left and with the bindings that appears to be a fair price if that is the ski you want.  Last season at this time, I scored a pair of Elan 88 xti's with factory integrated bindings for $550.  There were no deals like that in the fall, so I would say buy them now.

Agree with liv2ski.  Before I read liv2ski's reply, I also went and did a search, and didn't see very many 177s out there.  Ski Essentials has the skis without bindings for $449.

Patroller discount?  Hmmm... all I can say is that as a part time instructor who likes to bargin shop for skis, $580 with PRD 12 bindings looks like a pretty good deal.

FYI - haven't skied the Rev 85 Pro's, so no opinion on the ski itself.

Good move........that's about what the pro price would have been next fall. Thanks to those who suggested Start Haus but most of our Head skis sold early and the very few that were left went fast when we started our clearance sale.

FWIW......Head is growing very nicely and I think you made a good choice. We sell a lot of stuff to pros and Head was our #1 brand for pros this year (out of the 12 brands we carry)

Oh, HECK yeah! Had them out yesterday, soft corn after a couple of days of rain. Soft enough to work slow, very forgiving, but when I got on top of them and really drove they cranked out good turns at speed. Nice and stable, just damp enough, great in the crud.... love 'em.
