On behalf of the moderation team, I wanted to announce a new policy we are going to be instituting. I know the site terms of service and posting guidelines aren't exactly regular reading for the community as a whole, so I've decided to post this here in the Community forum as well in conjunction with the change. There have been several heated debates recently over topics like ONE Wasatch, helmets, skiing being an aerobic/anaerobic sport, etc. We have received several comments about wishing to get rid of idiot members who do nothing more than add noise, confusion, and disagreeable information to otherwise useful and important topical discussions.
As a result we have implemented a policy. If someone is called out for repeated misinformation someone may move to ban that person. To do so you simply need to quote their post and add a (the thumbs being a shout out to Roman Gladiatorial arenas when deciding who deserved to continue living). Then the votes come in. After twenty four hours if:
- The post has five thumbs up the member is banned from that thread
- The post has ten thumbs up the member is put on a one week time out.
- If the post has fifteen thumbs up they get a one month ban.
- If it receives a staggering 25 votes (with at least five being from Passholders) the member is banned forever.*
We sincerely hope that this change will empower the community to shape this community to be more agreeable to your tastes.
