Going the long way to SLC - 28 March to 4 April

Had a business trip in Seoul, South Korea, and initially thought I'd go to Niseko, but was advised that late season can be iffy, so decided to come back to USA and go to SLC.

Usually I go down to the southern part of Korea for business, but this is the first time I've done more than gone through the airports in Seoul. Took a little time and went to the local palace and saw the changing of the Guard. Not exactly the stuff of Buckingham Palace, but colorful nontheless:

A little palace action:

Did a field trip up to the DMZ which was more than a little interesting. Went to see "The Third Tunnel", that was found by the south which was intended for the North to keep soldiers in and invade. No pictures allowed inside, but this was outside which gives an idea of what was in store for the effort of walking down and exploring:

So, on the SLC, and 7-10 had just come down, so the wonderful Mineral Basin was in fine form:

The stuff off Road to Provo was getting a little played, but was still just fine:

There's supposed to be a substantial incoming tonight, so let's see how this plays out.

More like tomorrow than tonight, making for a good storm day. I would think you are staying up in the Canyon? Getting down the canyon tomorrow could be interesting. The storm Monday nightish has some serious potential.

Your timing is perfect.

You should come up to Park City! Apparently PC is expecting a foot of snow this week, http://blog.resortswest.com/2014/03/forget-april-showers-ski-april-powder-in-park-city/

Park City instead of Snowbird? Right, that could happen. Not in this lifetime, but if COULD happen.

Haha! Hey, it happens once or twice a season. Also, everyone knows that The Bird gets more snow so it gets tracked out a lot quicker than PCMR and The Canyons.

Love this TR! Too bad about Niseko, but you planned the SLC trip at just the right time.

Perfect timing.

The storm came in late today. Started snowing around 1 pm. Tomorrow will be a epic day.

The bigger storm will be Tue/Wed.

So, the 13 inches came in last night, and this morning was good. Very, very good, with lots of freshies and bluebird:

My friend Chase getting some off of Baldy:

Although the parking lot was COMPLETELY full (don't you people ever work?), I had a bunch of Mineral Basin to myself:

This is the first time I went out with Chase, and he knows the hill very well. It seems he likes to jump off of things too, like this little feature on Tiger Tail:

Then there was this little ditty on the way back to Little Cloud chair (nicely done Chase!):

Overall it was a spectacular day. In about 10 years of going to SLC in late March / early April, I've only got skunked on conditions once. This year continues the tradition of great conditions.

Just a couple more shots as the snow (and the light) were so good today. Probably the best day of the season for me .

Under Little Gad:

Chase in Tiger Tail:

Chase getting after it:

Anticipation much?

The front desk told me that someone left a ticket for the Canyons that they couldn't use, would I like it. Well, yes, in fact I would, thank you very much.

So how were the Canyons today?

And, when going into 9990, it started to snow very hard once again. Even at 3pm the freshies were everywhere.

Going back tomorrow :D

So for the rest of the week I met up with my buds at the Canyons, and it was very, very good:

So I lucked out by going last week, as it looks to be getting pretty warm this week.

Another WB trip (it'll actually only be "B" by that time), and we'll have to call 13-14 done. Or........
