The man in the middle is ColonelB. He is a regular at Mid-Atlantic Gatherings. Tom, you may have met him at Blue Knob.
Not sure if I know that dude very well but I do know about that jacket. It was actually a warranty replacement for an orange one. When I had to settle for green, I got some orange pants to go with them. The story of those pants can be read here.
Now, the day I ripped them, the oft photoed MDSkier offered me an orange patch that he happened to have in his backpack and though the patch was entirely inadequate for the extent of the damage the gesture was not forgotten. I kept that patch in my trav'lin' kit for years.
Yeah, about five years, I think, until January of this year when a branch snagged my arm and ripped a triangle into the Cloudveil right over the snazzy little pass pocket.
Was it time for the patch to emerge from the dark and save the day?
Hmm, well.... perhaps if my kit had been more tidy and the patch had stayed a little closer to pristine.....
I did give it a go and I enjoyed having a random orange patch on my arm for a few weeks but then another snag snagged my other arm and I sprung for a new jacket.
Well, that mystery is solved. Thanks Bumpfreaq!
How about this? We have a member already seen in these pics, who has been on the snow a LOT at gatherings. I managed to catch him in a quieter moment at Philpug and Trekchick' wedding.
Reminds me of the apocryphal Italian firing squad...
That would be Matteo @Nobody is rarely seen.
Bwawawwah. You guys crack me up! Thanks for the good laugh!
crgildart...not me, but my sons play (ied) baseball....tee heee
Btw, when are you guys going to show up here in Southern Europe?
Regular "mechanized" season is almost to an end. My current home mountain (adamello ski) will shut down winter operations April 29th (hopefully not like last year when a big avalanche took the whole groomed run of the Paradiso and brought to an abrupt end the season three whole days before the regular end!!)...Then it will be "glacier season" until end of June. Then...the "desert" crossing until november first will begin...
I'll fill the void with seaside swimming and other activities (like rollerblade teaching)...aah well.
BTW, where is the other "Italian" ?
This is the snow accumulation up in the "glacier" in March (I'm the one on you right)
Must be DonDenver in his 'blend in with trees' phase.
Please note: I did not do a hands-on inspection, or, at least that's how I remember that day.
Trekchic and Brooklyn
As I've been on the road for a while and not had access to my ski image files, and have answered a few questions correctly, I'm submitting a pair of Bear shots:
I know your first shot w/o seeing the face and the second just from the angle of his elbow =)
Bazz, perhaps you could ID the dude in red boots from post 58.
I certainly can ID the dude in red boots in post 58. He gives proof that the well loved phrase "red boots are the fastest" is a big, fat lie.
Hot Chocolate. She said it, not me. I think her real name was Laverne if I remember correctly. I think she had an athletic background. I skied a few runs that day with her friend because he couldn't keep up with her.
Close enough. I think her real name may be Vernice or something like that.
I know you have a lot of photos, load one up.
