A local ski shop is having a sale on their skis. Here are the prices and the sizes they have left...
170 cm Head Rev 85... $475
170 cm Head Rev 80 ...$350
170 cm Experience 88... $350 (have to include '15 binding at full price...$250ish) $600
180 cm Brahma ... $400 (binding $250ish) $650
Looking for 1 ski to do it all...
I have demoed the Head Rev 85 (170) and the Experience 88 (170, 176). I didn't have a chance to demo the Brahma. The Rev 80 wasn't available.
For what it's worth... I also demoed the RTM 81 in 171cm. I didn't like that ski at all. I made 1 run promptly returned it. Turn initiation didn't feel good. They also felt too precise for what I want. I felt like the sweet spot was a lot smaller than the other skis.
I also demoed the Head Supershape Magnum. It was a great ski, just not really what I'm looking for. Quite honestly, I'd probably hurt myself on that ski. It was fun, fast, maneuverable, etc., etc. If I wanted to own a quiver, I'd consider this ski as part of that.
I'm currently on a 163 cm Head Rev 78. The thing that I liked about the rev 85 and the experience 88 was their ability to blast through crud. They felt pretty stable to me. I probably went faster on both of those skis and did it with more confidence. The 88 felt quicker edge to edge (which I liked) compared to the 85. The 85 didn't feel like it had the edge hold of the 88. Maybe it was the tune??? I haven't read anyone else experiencing this. On the 170 E88 I felt like the binding was forward on the ski. I noticed this right away. I asked the shop about it and they told me it was positioned correctly. Felt a little odd to me. Maybe the demo binding wasn't set up correctly????
I won't get a chance to demo the Brahma before the sale ends. Would that be a mistake???
The bang for the buck option would be the 80 or 85 as they include bindings. The Brahma and 88 get more expensive because I would have to put '15 bindings (Marker Griffon or Rossi) on them.
Looking for some guidance.
I certainly don't need to buy anything right now. Just don't want to miss an opportunity. Will these skis be cheaper in the summer months? Will any be left to buy?
