I hate being sick

So we got about 2 feet of snow at Sunday River and Sugarloaf this past Wednesday.  On Tuesday, I started getting a cough.  On Wednesday, I had an ear ache.  I've been sick as a dog ever since.

Being sick SUCKS!!!  It's the tail end of the year and I'm missing some of the best skiing of the year.  God, I hate it!

Thanks for letting me bitch and moan.  I haven't skied in 2 weeks b/c last weekend I went to Albany for my father-in-law's b'day.  Not that I regret going.  Just didn't expect to be flat out on my back sick.

I'd rather be sick in the summer.  I couldn't care less about missing beach days!

Ditto. I think this is the first weekend I've missed ever to being sick. I've missed due to injuries and obligations, but never so sick I couldn't ski. I missed the year end celebration for the kids I've been coaching too. Hopefully I'll see them next weekend.

Wife blames it on all the hours I've been working at my "other" job and all the stress that comes with it.

To keep it fair, I don't think I'll be working that job tomorrow either biggrin.gif

I returned from the Utah Gathering with a cough, it's now been 5 weeks and the cough still hangs around. It kept me from skiing for 3 weeks, and, still limits my skiing to 3 to 4 hours per day. Not fun at all and my season comes to a close this week. This season will be the least skied in the past 6 years. The first wealth is health!

I got horribly sick last year and missed 2 weeks of skiing.  Last year and this year have been viral.  Nothing to do but suck down fluids and sleep.  I don't think I'll be going to work tomorrow.

The only good news is that my niece can push back her trip to come visit so instead of coming up Tuesday - Saturday, she's going to come up Friday - Wednesday and we'll ski for 4 straight days.  My son will love that as well b/c he'll get to ski with us and he adores her.

I just need to get better.  My wife tells me that I'm the world's WORST sick person.  Thank goodness she's the world's BEST wife.  ;)

Have you tried zinc? Zinc cold treatments claim to reduce both the severity and length of a cold, and they seem to work for me. As a teacher, I get exposed to more viruses than most people. Since I discovered zinc about 3 years ago, I haven't missed a work day or ski day due to a cold.

I'm into my second week of sick right now...started with that same cough. Have missed three days so far that I'd have normally skied...feels like I haven't gone up in forever.  Killin me.   March sickness should be nicknamed to honor the fallen skiers.   Crudbuster's cough.  Snow-lover's sniffles. Powderhound plague.

Started with a sore throat, changed to a cough, added a four day migraine along with that cough (just kill me), and finally on the mend. Missed ten days. Zinc is part of my daily supplements. So, no preventative. All started right as we got day after day of fresh snow. Which has been typical of this season for me, fresh snow arriving in continuous waves just as something prevents me from being able to enjoy it.

Still coughing, just not for hours on end.

Now up to FOURTEEN boxes of Kleenex.

Fighting a cold and no energy to ski today...................I'm leaving Tuesday for the Masters Nationals at Okemo,so staying home and relaxing was probably the smart choice (once in a while I do something sensible!)

I've been pumping zinc to no avail.  It just has to run its course.  Coughing up nasty junk out of my lungs now.  I guess that's an improvement. Hoping to be OK to take a foray to my local mountain on Wednesday.  If not, then I should be OK by the weekend.

Wait a minute.  My wife said I'm the world's worst sick person.  She said she's always amazed at what I can endure...until I get sick.  Then I'm a big ol' baby.

Hahahaha!  My wife says the same thing.  I'm a mule when it comes to physical punishment or long hours but when I'm sick I regress to a 2 year old.
