Indoor Ski Simulator - waste of time & money?

I just found out these guys are close to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5jgNiVD7oU#t=239

Looks like it could be a good off season way to hone technique (I'm an intermediate skier, possibly advanced intermediate).

Any thoughts / perspective on this? It's not cheap at $1200 membership fees

Looks may be fun for a hour or so, then boring as hell, but then again I can't stand treadmill either. $1200 is a lot of money and I have better ways to spend it to hone my skills than being cooped up indoors when I could run/bike/whatever outside in the summer.

Also looked at the website, looks like price include instructor whether if you want it or not, and you only get 52 1 hour long sessions that you must use up in a year, but you can only book 2 max per week. Sounds like a horrible deal unless you have money to burn.

With membership at $1200, I would hope they would let you take at least one trial session before committing...I have never tried it myself, but have seen it discussed reviewed elsewhere (maybe on Snowheads).

I had a student in a group lesson recently who started skiing last year and trained some at http://virtualsnowpalmbeach.com/ and felt it helped her...

You can ski there for $40-45/hr. While this rate still sounds rather terrible, it includes instruction.

One of our instructors used it once; she said it was OK as a novelty.

Their 52 one hour sessions costs the same as season passes to Blue and Mount St. Louis.

That's group rate though, $90 if you go alone
