Big Couloir Sitski Descent - Must Watch!

Last year @Bob Barnes and @cgeib skied the Big Couloir at Big Sky on Slalom skis, which I thought was pretty amazing.  But this.......skiing it on a mono ski .......This is bad ass!!!

Link to Big Sky's video directly if necessary

Edited thread title to eliminate confusion about monoski/sitski.

Monoski?  I've always called that a sitski (and so does she in the middle of the video).  The French are not going to be happy about people calling that a monoski... ;):rolleyes

Bad a$$ nonetheless!

Sitski or monoski notwithstanding, that girl has huge cojones!  (figuratively, of course!)

I wouldn't do it on regular skis even with someone else's cojones!

Very cool.

Noodler, I hear you. That's what I always thought, too. However, I have a friend and colleague who coaches adaptive racers, and he calls it a monoski. I think the left hand isn't talking to la main droite.

I remember watching Bob and Chris ski it last year during the gathering and thinking.....whoa that has big consequences if someone messes up,(not that Bob or Chris would mess up) mostly because of the dogleg.

We have video somewhere of Bob and Chris.

That.
Was.
So.
Cool.

And inspirational, no?

Thanks for posting.  So inspirational.  That lady can ski!

That is a monoski. And that is impressive!

Considering how unpredictable we found the snow up there, I cannot imagine trying to do that on a monoski. And the consequences of a fall are unimaginable. (I know she was tethered by the Patrol on the approach to the entrance of the Big Couloir, but I don't see any tether on the run!)

Way to go, Jamey!

Best regards,

Bob

Nice!

That reminds me of last year in whistler.

I arrived at the top of couloir extreme, took a look, decided i was not suicidal enougth to negociate a steep, 1 m wide chute full of rocks and bumbs..

While on my way to the big bang entrance which is more manageable... i turned around and this guy (or gal) on a sitski arrives at full speed, takes a quick look into couloir extreme and plunges into it...

let's just say i was very impressed!

Stoked on this!

I'm stoked whenever I see a differently abled skier or rider getting after it. I sometimes struggle with whether to say anything to the skier and/or their guides about how thrilled I am to see them out there. I don't like to single people out for being "different." On most (all?) occasions, my sentiments have been well-received but sometimes I've decided to stay mum.

As I'm sure a late, great friend of mine would have said,

That was HUGE!!!!!
