FAMILY TRIP: This year, given how late Easter is, we might try to visit CO for the first time to ski. Part of the reason is good snow, get a lot of folks who really like it, Europe flights are pretty steep, and being this late, Espace Killy was one of few places open but seems like a hike from Geneva and risky if snow tapers sharply in Tignes/Val d'Isere. Alta-Snowbird, the other option got a bit dimmer finding out Supreme lift would close within 2 days of being there (we have been to Alta a few times) and Snowbird would be new to us, but somehow that dimmed the enthusiasm a bit. (We do like the Alta Lodge ). Son would like to see a new place and the old fall-back Whistler-Blackcomb having a pretty dismal year so far. St Anton another potential also not having a good year (flights issue arises there too)
Anyway,in terms of lodging cost for a son (11 yrs) and Dad, costs in the two places are pretty much even, and within reason because of the late season.
Where would one stay and ski and why, and it is for at least 7 days of skiing? Have talked to folks with hotels in Lionshead, Vail and also Beaver Creek; wish to ski both places and enjoy it as we have never been to CO to ski.
Any counsel appreciated.
Son is an advanced-to-expert, Dad is an intermediate, we have skied at many places and get better by the year.
