we have plenty of instructors already...

Oz, Ant, you, Roger, Meesh (yes they are both members here & should be in Oz next season)

VailSnoPro - wanna make an NZ/Oz comeback???

I know Bobby from Cardrona(i think... used to be Falls)

Oz knows half the instructors in Oz (or so it seems)...

How many takers are there?
a) as students
b) as instructors

Well now, there's an idea! I'd love to get something going down there. It would probably be prohibitively expensive to send coaches from the northern hemisphere just for an event, but I know a number of top pros who spend their "summers" teaching there. That's something I've never done, but often considered. I'd certainly love to be involved, and will help in any way that I can.

Best regards,
Bob Barnes

I don't know that you could drum up enough interest among the bears to run a full on academy down under. I think maybe a gathering/ mini academy might be more doable.

That said, I'm thinking of skipping Portillo next summer and doing NZ, so consider me a possible.

There are a few more of us than you may think... just not so many that are very active...

To give you an idea though..

the SIC (sort of a gathering) for ski.com.au had 100 people the year I went...

I think we could find enough for an academy if we could organise one...

I would attend as a student.

me too Moose

Bob Barnes - do you want one of us to get some Oz ski school people to talk to you about doing a season here?

I'd be in as a student. Anyone wanna explain the concept of an academy a bit more?

You get a group of world class instructors together to teach small groups of students, as well as having organised events, particularly in the evenings to improve skier knowledge.
Last year these evening events included stretching exercises, boot technologies, and how to destroy the bases on a pair of Nolo's brand new skis, then rebuild them so she won't notice the difference.
