Hi guys, I was lurking here for the last few weeks after going skiing for the second time in 20 years a few weeks ago at a little mountain nearby (Tuxedo Ridge). This time the kids liked it which means we're likely going back this season, so I've been trolling craigslist and prior year models to try to find a deal so I'm not skiing in boots 2 sizes too large and skis 20 cm too short.
When I was a kid, I took weekly lessons for about 4 years as a young teen and then skied about 10-20 times a season up until college so I think I'm a solid intermediate skier. I picked up a beginner pair of Nordica One (45) boots that probably have too much flex for me but I'm not planning on pushing anything hard, they fit and they were cheap. Was this a mistake?
Anyhow, I'm 6' 1", 230 lb. and I found someone giving away a pair of 180cm Atomic 9.22s with a broken Diamir binding. From my research, it looks like these are AT bindings, correct? If so that means I need to replace them with regular alpine bindings. Is this feasible / will they need to be redrilled? I assume with my weight and experience that I need around din 9/10. What bindings would you recommend for them? I saw a demo set of Tyrolia SL 10 rail on ebay for ~$55, is this a good binding and price?
Thanks for all your help.
