From something of an old fogey.... what is it with the stupid goggle/helmet style the freestyle riders/skiers sport?  Wearing the goggles under the helmet seems so inefficient/counter-intuitive.  You have to take off your helmet to lift your goggles...or else prop the helmet way back on the head like a misshapen growth. And, since you've lost the helmet/goggle unity you establish by strapping the goggle to the helmet, every time the helmet moves, it knocks into the goggle tops.

Is this just more stupid, different-to-be-different style?  Or is is there ANY worthwhile reason to wear the goggles this way?  Am I just hopelessly fogey-ish?  Please.....

It seems just so stuuuuupppid.

You don't cover up the awesome stickers plastered all over the helmet with that boring goggle strap that way.

And there's a term for the goofy looking helmet propped back to allow for lifting up the googles - they call it gaper's gap.  Apparently un-cool even among boarders.

Don't worry about it.

Most of the park guys tend to rock the goggles under the lid for a few reasons.

1. Park helmets tend to not have fit systems for weight reasons. This requires a beanie to be worn under the helmet for better fit. If you are rocking the beanie under there is not reason to not rock the goggles under it as well.

2. When hiking the pipe or a jib you get hot. Helmets are hot. Pop the lid off while hiking keep the goggles on for both sun protection and maximum steeze.

3. Sponsors are paying prime cash for helmet space. Kids dig what the snow heroes are doing and emulate said hero.

4. Yes you are a fogey, Don't worry what others are doing and worry about your fanny pack getting caught in the lift chair.

Wow, never noticed that. Doesn't the buckle hurt their heads? Kids do a lot of things to be cool. Then they grow up.

While we're on style maybe we can get an explanation of the baggy pants sagging below their asses??

Just kidding I'm sure this is also for staying cool while hiking. smile.gif

Oooh... snap!

Guess I got schooled!

I think it is somewhat practical to be able to wear the beanie and goggles all the time, and just use the helmet when necessary, but it seems uncomfortable -- although some goggles are made with no buckle, or smaller buckles, to accommodate this. Sometimes I would like to not have to carry a beanie in my pocket...

The photo up there, on her jacket.

I only know this because they are my initials, so I have an SB hoodie. Most of their gear is way too cool for a fogey like me though.

Just wear your goggle strap under your helmet, then you'll fit in. :-D

I see the confusion... park rats don't wear apparel, they ROCK apparel.  It's not meant to be understood.
