During EpicSki Academy 2004, Snowbird Mountain School will offer a "Kids Academy" based on their regular season full day program.

Price:
$340

Lift Tickets:
Lift tickets are not included, but kids 12 and under qualify for "Kids Ski Free" Snowbird chair lift tickets (not including the tram) and kids 13 and over can get in on our group rate ($160/4 day pass, Snowbird-only plus tram, and save $16/day).

As an incentive for families to stay at Snowbird properties (Cliff Lodge, The Inn, Lodge at Snowbird, Iron Blosam), the tram is included for 12 and under children free of charge. For families not staying at Snowbird properties, the daily charge for a child's tram upgrade is $15.

If the child you are enrolling is over 13, please send us an email to academy@epicski.com to get the group rate and so we can order his or her tickets.

Dates:
January 26-29, 2004 (Monday through Thursday)

Includes:
Four full days of instruction which include lunch and supervision. Open to either Alpine Skiing or Snowboarding.

Sign-in daily between 8:30-9:15 a.m.
Sign-out daily between 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Lesson time runs from 9:30-3:00 daily.

Special Accommodation:
We will offer some of our "best coaches" and form specific groups just for the children participating in this program with a requirement that there needs to be a mimimum of FOUR children of the same/similar level and discipline per coach. If they do not "fit into" a group of four or more, we will accomodate them in our regular daily classes.

Restriction:
Minimum age is 7.

Information needed (initially):
Childs Name, Age, Skier or Snowboarder, Ability Level, Parent/Guardian Name and phone/email. Participants may register by phone or email in late August. We will take advance reservations with the above information. We will contact these people later requesting additional information including method of payment. We expect to have some forms available on our website for registration, however, they may not be ready until September.

Email Address/Phone:

Nolo, Snowbird is running a "special" during June and July that lets you pre-purchase lesson coupon booklets for the 2003-2004 ski season. Under this plan, you can pre-purchase 4 days of Kids Mountain Adventures for as little as $200-$240.

Do you know if Snowbird will accept these pre-purchase coupons for the 2004 Epic Ski Kids Academy?

Whatever the case with coupons, the upcoming Kids Academy is a great idea. My 10 y.o. daughter has done Kids Mountain Adventures days at Snowbird in the past. The "good" Snowbird instructors were fantastic and paid a lot of attention to her teaching needs; the few "not-so-good" Snowbird instructors that my daughter encountered were inattentive, put her through inappropriate exercises, etc.

I'll ask the question on Monday, Bob. Thanks for the heads up.

I asked Maggie Loring, Director of the Mountain Sports School at Snowbird, Bob's question about using Snowbird's Coupon Books for the EpicSki Kids Academy, and the answer is YES. The books are sold in lots of 6 and 10. It takes 8 to cover the four days, which leaves 2 left over, which you can use or give to a friend to use.

Go ahead and buy the coupon books NOW, but you will still have to reserve with the Mountain Sports School for the EpicSki Kids Academy so the good folks there know how many of their best kids instructors to assign to our kids.

Maggie asks that you call to reserve a place for your child with the Mountain Sports School in late August, when their reservations will be up and running for the season.

Has anyone called to enroll their kids in the Kids Academy? I just got off the phone with the Mountain School, and the girl I talked to had no idea what I was talking about, but agreed to take the kids' names and info and get back to me.

I was just wondering if perhaps the interest had waned for the Kid's Academy, and it was no longer happening. I hope not, as my 3 are as excited, if not more, than us about this!

How many of you will have their kids in the program? I've been asked to write an article for a small, start up publiication, that focuses on "family friendly" aspects of internet life. If you have your kids in the Snowbird program, I may want to speak with you.
