Storm Chasing up the East Coast 24" of fresh pow

I woke up yesterday morning in my apartment in NYC and immediately checked the weather report. I compared reports from as many mountains as I could think of. Which mountain is going to get the most snow?! Would it be the Poconos, Mount Snow, Killington… maybe I should make a blitz for Smuggs… or the Loaf?! After about an hour, probably more like three hours, of comparing and comparing, I decided to take a chance with Hunter. Reports said they could get 20+” by Friday morning! Now that I figured out the mountain, all I needed was a few friends to make the trip memorable. Hey Brandon… Wanna go Storm chasing??? “Ahhhhhh Crap! Yes! but, Ummmm I cant I’ve got a romantic weekend planned with my girlfriend… I cant!!” Well.. Brandon you are a way better boyfriend than I am. Next! About 8 painful no’s later… Ryan, “yes?” ‘Lets go storm chasing.’ “I thought you’d never ask!” The best of friends are truly made while skiing. Ryan isn’t the best skier, but he has an overwhelming passion for the sport and will ski anything! The day consisted of endless amounts of hooting and hollering and a few high fives. This post marks the end of day one of our trip. Hunter got about 10″ of blower pow today and they are expecting another 13″ overnight! I think it’s safe to say we aren’t going anywhere. Here are some photos from the trip. You can Check out the rest at http://americanyeti.com/trip-report-hunter-mtn-ny/

Huntah must have been a fun place to ski powder.  I bet there were people flailing all over the hill.  Good choice though.  Steep and tall enough to have plenty of fun and a way, way closer drive than Sugarloaf!
