Crystal's forecast is nuts. I was planning on going up tomorrow but I think it's going to be one of those days where it will be tough to get there (how many people will decide to stop and chain up right on Crystal Mt Blvd, causing an backup that goes to Greenwater?), the upper mountain will be closed at first for avy control and maybe for wind...but Monday might be even more intense.

Late Afternoon Snow. Steady temperature around 27. Breezy, with a south wind around 28 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible.

  • Tonight Snow showers. Low around 22. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 22 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.
  • Sunday Snow. Steady temperature around 25. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to 23 to 28 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.
  • Sunday Night Snow. Low around 24. Breezy, with a southwest wind 23 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 15 to 21 inches possible.
  • Washington's Birthday Snow showers. High near 29. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
  • Monday Night Snow showers. Low around 22. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
  • Tuesday Snow. High near 28. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

I'm planning on hitting Crystal tomorrow.  I never know for sure until I look at the 5:00am conditions.   I went up Tuesday after the dump Monday night and it was awesome.

Epic day!!!  Woke up at 5am, telemetry said no wind and 15" of new.  Left at 1pm before the wind picked up and they shut down the upper mountain.  Looking forward to Tuesday.

Hood went from 60" base at the base to 97" in ten days per NWAC, 121" base at the bottom per Meadows.  Almost doubled the snow pack in last two weeks.

NOAA says 22" to 42" coming during the week.

Snowpack and Hood both in "recovery mode".

All bodes well for Spring skiing and Spring Chinook.

Skied Crystal Yesterday!  Clear when we got there at 7:40. by 8:05 a full blown blizzard and snowed HARD the entire day! Had to be 9" of new by 2:30 PM.

skiing was stellar!

New Atomic Rituals were absolutely amazing for a ski with a 103MM waist.  (Of course I put a 3 degree side edge on them)

Groomed, hard, soft, bumps,  chop, POW didn't matter they eat it up.

Supposed to get colder and a ton more snow!

I'll be there either Tuesday or Thursday! Yahooooooo!

This is un-freaking believable!!!

2 feet over night and still snowing hard this morning @ Crystal.  But no power...no ride up the hill.

Tough to be in that parking lot and waiting at 8am this morning ;-)

Baker opened with 15" of new and has added another 9" during the day.  No wind, but lots and lots of new snow.  Also lots and lots of people, at least by Mt. Baker standards.  Great skiing today, and tomorrow should be even better!

Crystal, 35" in the past 48 hours, and 66" in the past 4 days. And no one was up yesterday since they lost power. What fun for the people that can go today. Just as well that's not me, I'm not even 66" tall.

Monday and Sunday were a lot of fun at Baker. I got awesome turns all the way down Canuck's first run of the day on Monday, jumped off a few clffs, and proceeded to realize that I suck at landing properly in 2 feet of powder. Got a few good pics though!

Wangled a three day weekend so off to enjoy Hoods 72" of snow in the last 14 days on what NOAA says will be a sunny weekend.

What a turnaround for the season. Six feet of snow in a few days makes for a nice bank for March and even into April.
