This statistic has also been bugging me - *really* bugging me - but for other reasons.
First, I think the actual level of interest amongst active EpicSki participants (ie, including those that didn't respond) is probably substantially lower than 50%. As I mentioned above, this is because people on Epic not interested in the Academy are less likely to read threads about the Academy than those that are interested in it.
What makes this low rate astonishing is that this is the level of interest you get: (a) with some of the best ski instructors in the world, (b) assuming the most convenient logistics possible and extremely low cost, and (c) when asking the question in a community of people obviously dedicated to the sport.
I realize that low interest in lessons/coaching has been discussed many times before on Epic, but I think that the anonymous nature of a poll on this topic might bring out beliefs and feelings about instruction not likely to come out in normal threads. Accordingly, take a look at the poll,http://www.epicski.com/cgi-bin/ultim...=001800#000000
I would like only those people who don't have much interest in taking skiing lessons to participate in this poll. If you take several lessons per season (or more), you shouldn’t answer the questions, but you can still see the results by zipping through and checking the last answer to each and every question, OWR, “only want results”.
