Saddest part of a man's life is that it's counted in dogs.

And cats.

My Burmese in days of old.

You are sure right about counting your life in pets.

I'm hoping I have time for some more.

Sofort 99,

Very well said, I have read many qoutes and thoughts about dog's short lives, but yours in the best.

Zentune,

My thoughts are with you, lost my best friend Brooke, a German Shorthaired pointer a few years ago at 8 years old, still hurts today. When the pain gets less, you need a puppy!

We still haven't really gotten over the death of our first dog Jasper who was a gigantic (120 lbs trim) shorthaired pointer/great dane cross...what an awesome guy he was!

Yeah, Bode is missing Anja--he keeps looking for her :(. Someday (not too soon), he will have a new sister to torment him. :)

Thank you all for your thoughts and feel free to post pictures of your beloved here.

I'll take you up on that.  I loved the dogs that are no longer with us. It's beyond sad to consider their passing, and joyful to think of what they brought in their lifetimes.

The saddest day you will ever live, is when they leave.  Your heart will break.

and then you are given a new friend to look after.

Sorry to hear about it.  My wife and I still miss all the dogs we've lost.

Condolences for your heavy loss.  Daisy sends a wag and a piece of her heart.

If we could only be as good as our dogs.

No getting around it; this sucks. She was very fortunate to end up with such loving compassionate people.

Here's Scarlet who is no longer with us and my daughter when she was small. One of the quirkiest dogs I've ever met. She was already a grumpy old lady when this picture was taken.
