An answer to altaskier, and a request--
First, the request. If you PM or email me asking to be put on the distribution list, please send me your email address. Obviously, I can't add you to the list without that crucial piece of information. We are not selling the list, or spamming anybody or anything like that. But I do need your address if you want to be on the distribution. My address is email@example.com
. Or you can PM me.
Okay, altaskier. The Academy, past and future, gets a fair amount of discussion in the various threads in the different forums. I'm certainly happy to encourage that, and you're certainly right, the more discussion there is, the more interest there is likely to be in the program. But the newsletter is just a way to get information out to people who are interested (not committed) to attending. It's not intended to promote discussion, just keep the more interested people informed. One of the requests we got in the feedback questionnaire from participants after the 2003 Academy was specifically to use an email format to broadcast information, so they wouldn't have to search various threads for it.
Incidentally, one of the beauties of email is that it costs nothing to add a name, so it's not like we are going to be strangled by postage expense if numerous casually interested people get on the list. So I'd encourage any one, including the idly curious, to sign up.
