Transportation from Park City to Alta/Snowbird?

Thread Starter

My friend and I are staying 4 nights in Park City, but would like to spend 2 or 3 days skiing Alta and Snowbird.

a) Does anyone know of cheap transportation from park city to alta, or are we better off just renting a car ($180 for 4 days, plus gas)?

b) I don't have much rental car experience -- will 2 pairs of skis plus luggage fit in a midsize if the seats fold down, or should we go full size?

You can rent a car with a ski rack and then everything should fit fine.  Renting a car will probably be cheaper in the longer run than trying to make other arrangements unless there's some public transportation between the 2 that I'm not aware of.

If you rent a car with a rack, they'll charge you ($20+) a day. If you get folding rear seats (which I always do), they won't.

Last SLC trip a week ago I had a 4wd Chrysler 300C with folding seats, time before that was a Taurus.

Will 2 skis and 2 bags fit with folding seats - sure. With 2 people it should be OK. Usually it's only a couple of bucks more to go with a full size, so that's what I'd do.
