Steamboat with TAM Knee deep on Superbowl Sunday!

So following our storm cycle capped off by yesterday's surprise 15", we had a blue bird day. Tam PM'd me this AM (Tam is really the Steamboat Ambassador) to get some untracked lines.  Only a short hike is a really cool area that I had never been into. True to Tam's prediction, there was one track in the whole bowl.  We lapped it and another area called Chernobyl Trees and got some great shots.  Somehow I switched my camera to B&W so Sorry but imagine a vivid deep blue sky.  It was great making turns with Tam.

Looks really nice!

Always a backseat driver that knows your terrain better than you. This area has zero... yes I really mean zero... chance of sliding. If it were to slide the earth would have to actually tip on its axis. Barely enough pitch to turn when theres new snow honestly. And that's really not a joke. I detest this attitude on forums that as soon as someone heads thru a gate, they must be heading into an area with avy danger thus must have full gear. Get over it, there are plenty of areas outside the boundaries of ski areas that have zero danger of sliding.

I have to say I trust Tam 100% and at no point felt I was in any zone that was even remotely at risk.  I guess you could say its always a good idea to have gear but in this case, if you could see where it was, there was truly no risk.  I should have stated that in my previous post but I just didn't want to start anything.

its a super mellow but really fun area that parallels the resort boundary.

So & So, said there was Zero chance of a avalanche.  This looks like the same gate, must be OK?

that would be my fault for not explaining that more clearly then.

no need, its just that every gate you go through doesn't mean its avi terrain.  there are a lot of places that are just not "in bounds" we ski a bunch of them.  A gate simply means not within the resorts boundary.

I'm sure it was just as, if not more impressive in color, but I love the B&W shots.  Looks like a great day!

Love the first shot in the fir trees!

Let's face it....

You're switching the camera to black and white on a blue bird Super Bowl day caused the Broncos to get slaughtered by that team from the state where the sky is grey - Washington.

I'm surprised the Governors didn't bet a bag of their best weed on the game.

I am however perplexed by the apparent disdain by the ambassadors for their Aspen trees. Wouldn't that be like the Japanese Ambassador serving Buffalo wings at his official party? Then when asked about the Japanese food says, "Oh, we have that too."

Not to worry. I guess it's like if you come from an area where Deer are as common as dogs, you can't understand why people pull over to the side of the road to photograph them.

We understand you've been instructed to show that Steamboat has diversity in the tree department and does not discriminate on tree type.

again, guilty as charged....  :rotflmao:

yeah, that was actually part of the idea; to show a little diversity and fun stuff at the resort.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to go there.

What would you say to someone thinking of Steamboat who's spent 4months and 40 something pages trying to figure out where to go?

Well, I'm pretty sure we said it, whatever it was.

It would be hard to think that he couldn't love the place.

Gorgeous pics.  Not entirely sure why I was paged?  Not looking to talk a certain individual into coming here.  Or...at least not for ME to show them around.....

In addition to lacking color, where's the slope?

Beautiful snowy meadows!  You're cross-country skiing right?  :duck:

I am not talented enough to ski and take pics and not gonna stop to take them.  But, this short shot is a short walk up to the top of a plateau and you ski off the top.  There are a couple ways to go. look at the second picture for a better idea.  Neither are long or very steep; just fun.   This isn't a ski-the-gnar post......  Thumbs Up

Looks like Camp Hale, 10th Mtn Div, WWII.

Love it.
