Cheap Schweitzer lodging??

Anyone know a cheap place to stay in Sandpoint/area for one person, bunkhouse or dive that's clean?

I'm too old for either, so I used Hotwire and paid $50ish for the Holiday Inn Express just off the interstate.

There's quite a few sub-$100 motels in Sandpoint. Hotwire's a good idea if you don't mind getting a random hotel in whatever star category you pick. The area Hotwire uses for Sandpoint is not very big so I don't think you'll get screwed on location. I've only stayed at the HI Express just north of Sandpoint on Hwy 95, which is new and very clean--I had no complaints except that you probably will want to drive back into Sandpoint for dinner (or eat at the one place in the parking lot). That's probably the most "expensive" relative to the other motels in town, though. You can also look at Trip Advisor, put in your dates and check out the reviews (be sure to click on the "within 5 miles" option to get the hotels just north of town, which are technically in Ponderay. Those are very convenient to Schweitzer cutoff road):

Country Inn in Sagle is $34/night and clean (I hear). Sagle is the other side of the long bridge in Sandpoint on 95.

Yep, that or...

The K2 Inn is 1 street away from Downtown Sandpoint, so you could easily walk to a good dozen or so places to eat.  There's a town shuttle that runs out to the Red Barn Mountain shuttle that takes you up to the hill.  Rooms are 69 bucks a night...with continental breakfast!
