Brahma's from Dawgcatcher showed up today but it is too damn cold to ski!!!

The Brahma's I bought from Dawgcathcing showed up today.  Unfortunately it is so darn cold her in Michigan don't want to go skiing.  We have had the most snow in as long as I can remember but it has been so cold this year.  Today we have touched -25 F with wind chill.  Hoping for a thaw tomorrow or Thursday so I can take these new boards out for a ride.

Finally got to ski the Brahma's today and I love them.  Had a really fun day today.  Took 5 pair of skis to the hill today to do a sort of demo day.  Even though I own the 5 pair I took.  I spent about 45 minutes on each ski which is about 8 runs per ski.  Here is how I felt in order of favorite to least.

1) Kastle FX94 in 176

2) Blizzard Brahma in 173

3) Kastle MX78 in 176

4) Kastle LX82 in 172

5) Nordica Soul Rider in 177

Had fun on all the skis but realized today that if I only owned the FX94 I'd be ok with it.  That ski can just about do it all.  However it sure is fun having all the other skis to have fun on.

That's just crazy talk.  Went skiing last sunday at -33F with windchill.  Skiing was good.  Had to wear the warmer boots though.

Unacceptable. Statements like this can get you banned. Just add another layer.

At my local mountain I usually bring 3-4 pair and change up during the day.  The hills around here are very small and I find that switching skis keeps it interesting and I don't get as bored.  If I lived out west and skied out there I probably would only have 3 pair of skis because the terrain would keep it fun.  However since I ski mostly in Michigan with about 10 days out west I find that I ski pretty much all my skis the same amount.

However when I go outwest it is either the FX94's or Cochise except for days of 6 or more inches and then it is the Automatics.

8 runs in 45 minutes.......LOL that's insane. LOL, LOL, LOL

I guess it is a small hill.

If your dressed right, you won't be cold, hey at that hill it can't be to far to get inside either.

FWIW, I had skied twice in -29F and for a short time the day the wind chill was -75F.

Procos - not sure where you are in MI, but its been ridiculous. I chaperoned my son's ski club trip to Pine Knob last Friday.  I think the temp was around 10 with a 30 mph wind.  Wind chill was -20 something.  Skied with my son and one of his buddies from 6:30 - 10:30.  I give those kids credit.  We only took two short breaks the whole night.  They wouldn't stay inside more than 10 minutes.  Had the whole hill to ourselves.

Enjoy the new skis.  Should be a decent weekend for skiing in the NLP.

Yep Pine Knob is my local hill. Best snow I've seen here in all my 45 years.

I get far colder skiing at Nashoba Valley in Massachusetts (250 vertical feet) than I do skiing on much colder days in Vermont.  Runs are so short compared to the lift ride back up that you don't get a chance to warm up unless you go inside.

Yeah, it's less about actual temp than about what you're doing. Cold is the time standing around in the wind after you take off your parka and pants, just spandex race suit thin gloves and plugs, waiting for your number.
