What ever happened to the new Strawberry lift at Snowbasin?

I've been to Snowbasin several times this year and several times have run into some pretty rough conditions at the top of Strawberry Gondola.  Either super wind-blown sheets of ice or complete whiteouts that have you wondering if you're in the middle of a run or about to drop off a cliff.

I was thinking it would make sense to have a lift that served about 3/4's of the way up the Strawberry side and did some googling, and sure enough found an old thread here on Epic where they were planning to do just that, alongside the re-alignment of Little Cat lift.  It looks like this was scheduled for Summer of 2009 and, while the Little Cat re-alignment happened, obviously there's still no lift on the Strawberry side besides the Gondola all the way to the top.

Does anyone know what happened with this, or if there are still any plans to do it?

Good question about the lifts.  While it's still at the initial phases, it's rumored Snowbasin is looking to extend a lift from the bottom of Strawberry to the road to not only expand their terrain, but to develop a village on or near the Trapper's Loop Road.  Yes, the upper part of the Strawberry lift is notorious for high winds and white out conditions.  I never ski over there unless the visibility is good or I know exactly where I'm going.

It's just such a shame because the bottom 3/4's is such good terrain but there's no safe way to access it when the top is a mess.

Thanks for the info on the bottom section, I hadn't heard about that.  I thought that area was cross country trails, no?
