So, I'm traveling to the Utah Gathering in my truck camper looking for storms to chase, except there are no storms in the west and after a brief stop at Whitewater near Nelson B.C., I head to Jackson Hole. No RV camp grounds are open in winter an not too many places to park overnight and run a generator, so I check out the Motel 6 in Jackson. They have a weekly rate and a seniors 10% discount and no charge for my dog.
I sign up for four nights for $178.80 total, then I check out the room: completely remodeled, new bed, bamboo flooring, flat screen HD TV, very large modern bathroom and an additional $2.99/day for WI-FI but they give me two days free WI-FI. I then decide I might as well stay for the week (no storms to chase elsewhere) so I go back to the Motel 6 office and ask for the weekly rate which turns out to be a 30% discount. They charge me a additional $36.20 total for three more days. That comes to $215 total for 7 days, so it works out to LESS THAN $30/NIGHT! and less than twenty minutes from some of the best skiing in North America. Some campgrounds charge more for electric/water hook ups. WOW.
In addition, with my camper parked outside my ground level room I can save even more $ by cooking meals in my camper.
This is my first trip to Jackson Hole and it won't be the last.
