The last couple of seasons it's hit me that I just don't see the Ski Patrol skiing anymore. It is obvious with the skis and snowmobiles at the huts that the mountains are "manned and ready" but don't why don't they SKI anymore? Isn't/wasn't that one of the biggest perks for becoming one in the first place?
In the 60's and 70's they were all over the mountain, in the singles line for the chair and of course responding when needed to the "business" end of their job.
But now I only see them when tending to a skier/boarder or very occasionally practicing skiing down a sled.
Has there been a fundamental shift of how they are to do their job? Can some of the EPIC patrollers chime in here, preferably some old timers who have been at it for many decades...
