Hi. I am a long time on and off lurker. I am 47 years old, 5'7" 170 lbs in fairly good shape from road cycling, weight training and yoga. I have been skiing for over 30 years ( with a 10 year break when we had small children). We ski mostly in Vermont (Stratton, and most recently Okemo). I ski mostly single and double black groomed trails at these mountains with my 14 year old. I will go into the bumps if there is fresh snow, and I also enjoy the fresh powder when available. I stay away from the glades unless they are easy. I remember reading these forums several years ago when the Fischer RX was a highly touted ski. I picked up a pair of used RX9's in 170 cm length several years ago ( I was closer to 190 lbs at the time). The skis are actually pretty nice- I can handle them on hard snow, bumps and powder. They seem to lack in edge grip on really hard snow/ice. The only problem is that the skis want to run really fast and they seem to be geared for longer turns. I am looking for something that I can go a little slower with, make shorter turns, hold well on hard snow, and use a little less energy. It would be awesome if I could find something a few years old used to fit my needs. I have salomon x wave boots. Any input would be appreciated.
Looking for advice for new skis [Vermont father]
