I'm trying to choose between Stowe, Okemo and Killington for a mid February trip. I have never been to any of the three before; I've read many reviews here at EpicSki over at On The Snow, and through other sources as well, but I'd love any extra advice I can get on the matter.
About me: I've been skiing for probably around 15 or so years (my family and I went to Stratton most winter weekends when I was growing up). The most recent Vermont mountain I skied was Sugarbush, which I really loved...I did every trail on the mountain (intermediates and up) without any problems. I'm not the type that does steep and rocky chutes/gullies or anything too extreme or off-piste; I like the challenge of a good double black but mostly enjoy a spectrum of intermediate through expert terrain. I'm not very big on moguls, though I do enjoy the occasional glade.
Though I'm 25, I am a "peace and quiet" type of guy. As such, I'd prefer to be somewhere where I won't be stuck next to raucous parties or loud bars...I'm content to grab dinner somewhere in the town/village and then retreat to my room for some relaxation and sleep. Whichever I choose of the three, I'm not looking for nightlife...just a place for days chock full of skiing. I don't need super luxury accommodations but I'm willing to pay the money for a nice condo or hotel/inn room over a motel, cabin or other cheaper location.
Price and transportation aren't issues (instead of taking the long and tiring drive from my home in Pittsburgh, I'd be flying into Rutland or Burlington and renting a car).
Thanks very much in advance for any help. I'm really glad I discovered On The Snow and EpicSki, as both have helped me find plenty of skiing so far this year near the Steel City: I've been to Holiday Valley/Holimont, Wisp, Seven Springs, Snowshoe, and Blue Knob so far since mid-December!
