A job well done by ski patrol

Hello,

my name is eamonn courtney from Ireland,

I have been skiing the vail valley for the last 18 years and have often watch ski patrol take injured persons down the hill for treatment,

but never really thought how much skill and dedication was involved to make this happen.

I never imagined that i would end up in a sled been taken to vail medical centre,

yesterday tue 14 jan 2014 on vail mountain at approx quarter after twelve pm, just below patrol headquarters on way to timberline catwalk,

in very heavy snow fall, i hit a ridge in a white out and landed badly on my right shoulder, which immobilized me on the ground.

I would like to thank red jacket ski patroler Julie who appeared out of no where to assist me literally in seconds,  set up a protective perimeter above me, then checked me out, called in a sled and extra support to get me off the mountain and to hospital.

I wanted to express my sincere thanks to Julie, who assisted and comforted me before the sled arrived, also sarah and the ski patroler

who skillfully brought me off the mountain,  i did not get his name, but he told me he would like to travel to Ireland some day to visit his grand parents home country,

The work of ski patrol goes mostly unnoticed by the vast majority of skiers and boarders,

and i just wish to say a very big THANK YOU, to all of vail valley ski patrol.

kindest regardest,

Eamonn Courtney,

Ireland,
