Advice: One Day This Weekend...Schweitzer or Red Mountain?

First time in this region, skiing a couple days in Fernie, but have an extra day to 'spare' on the way back to Spokane.

Me:

Upper Intermediate but aggressive skier
Blue Black groomers preferred, but enjoy ungroomed too
Tree skiing and big moguls not a forte
Cool Lodges, restaurants, ski schools not important for me

One day:

Red Mountain?
Schweitzer?

Thanks for your comments!

I'm interested in Red Mountain also.   Can anyone advise if this resort is worthy of a 4-5 day  family vacation?   Is there enough terrain there and things to do in town for that long?

If you love long groomers and clear skies then Schweitzer will be a good choice this weekend.

Should be sunny and 100% open this weekend with plenty of steeps winch groomed.

I skied Red Monday.  It was brutally windy and the freezing level was almost to the top. Without new snow, conditions would be challenging this next weekend.  Plus, it's way out of the way.   I think it  may have rained to the top at Schweitzer too, but it would be the better choice.

Maybe Whitewater?

Red's an awesome mountain if they have snow and they have night skiing.  I heard that Thursday night was the best skiing they've had all year.

Town is nice, they have a nice variety of restaurants and now they have a free shuttle!

The terrain at Red is basically unbeatable but the snow/weather can be iffy so you's takes your chances but if the snow is good that mountain rocks!Thumbs Up

I know of a family from Australia who spent a ski week at Red last season.  They had a good time.  Have you looked at the terrain stats?  About 2800 vertical and at least 1500 skiable acres, more with side country.  It's actually more than one mountain.
