I've been trying to get here for a little bit, but they've had low snow, it just hasn't worked out, etc. etc. But my timing was finally good, and it was right as they received 30-ish inches in the past week's storm cycle. I signed up for the North Face Guided Tour through ski school, and it was just me in the group, with an instructor who's been at CB for 40 years. And about 7 other people on the mountain.

We skied everywhere; morning was a general tour around the mountain and a lot of glade skiing, since visibility was tough;  afternoon cleared out the weather, and consisted of Teocalli, the Headwall, Hawk's Nest, Spellbound and Phoenix bowls (and some other stuff I'm sure), then finished off with a 4 pm run down Flatiron in full sun. Spectacular.

It should be! And I'm trying to get to Taos, possibly the weekend of 2/22 when my nephew is in a comp down there.

Yes, so I've heard! And I get to go to Jackson in a week, and Snowbird in two more weeks ... I've had a great early season, snow-wise, but I am really excited for some more steeps and terrain. :drool

You are definitely going to the right places :).

The Salomon Freeride Comp is Feb 27-Mar 1 and the Helly Hanson Big Mountain Battle is Feb 14-15.  What comp is your nephew in on the 22nd?

You just missed the rope drop on Third Bowl but it sounds like you got a good tour of much of the extreme terrain.

Are you the reason the term "powder whore" was invented?  Just asking...
