Bristol Mountain, NY January 4-5

Last weekend the snow was looking good up in NY state, so we decided to explore Bristol, in the Finger lakes near Rochester. A cruisy but fun hill, and we timed it well for snow conditions, which were generally soft and fun. I was a little concerned it'd be crazy busy, but it wasn't particularly bad, with one of the fast quad chairs almost line-free all weekend. I liked the place - thought it was well run, the lodge had good food, and the locals were friendly, even the one who took me down from behind (no damage done luckily).

We stayed in Canandagua, right on one of the lakes - a ski/stay deal at the Inn on the lake. It was a very beautiful, if frozen, town with a pleasant little downtown where we found a wine bar with good Italian food. Some of the local white wines are pretty worthy in the Finger lakes. Recommended.

Thanks for the report.  If we cut through Canada, Bristol is only 5.5 hours from us.  Might have to check it out.  1200 vertical is alot to us folks in MI.
