Was I Sized Wrong?

End of season last spring I bought a new pair of skies. Fisher Watea 84. I am an intermediate level skier that is coming back from a 20 hiatus from the sport. This is the first pair of shaped skies. I live and ski mainly in Michigan. They sized and sold me 184. I feel they are hard to control at times. I am 5'11", 210 pounds. Curious your thoughts. Much appreciated.

Nope, not wrong.

If this is your first pair of shaped skis, lessons are in order.

I own that ski from a handful of years back also in a 184- I am taller and lighter than you with a lot more time on snow.  For me, it skis longer than my 186 Fischer Atua/Misfits (that have twin tips).

Opinions will differ regarding size and I don't think the shop clearly erred given your size, but considering your long lay off you could have gone for the next size down (176?) or even a different ski altogether depending on the conditions you ski in Michigan (but again, the Watea is a pretty good all mountain ski, so not clearly wrong).

As was posted, lessons might help improve your technique and make you feel more comfortable on the 184s.

This ^^^^. Both sentences. You'd bend a 176 into a pretzel. Get thee to the ski school!
