Volkl Shiro 2013 vs 2014

Just trying to get confirmation of any difference between the 2013 and 2014 Shiro apart from the top sheet. It appears the ski is the same? Can anyone confirm this? Some good deals on 2013 out there.

I have 90% decided to get the 193. I am six foot four and weigh about 105 kilos. I ski most terrain and most conditions. Not a great big fan of moguls. Being a bigger guy with good solid technique who drives the ski I reckon the shiro will be a good fit.

I was looking at the Rossi super 7 in a 188. But was concerned that 188 would not be big enough. Other skis I was considering was Blizzard Gunsmoke, and kastle bmx 108.

I will be doing a ski season in BC canada next year and are looking to gear up. I will have a 2 ski quiver. Already got my 90mm all mountain ski for lean snow days.
All your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Welcome to Epic! Big difference. The 2014 has two layers of metal. Whole other ballgame. Much beefier ski.  Suggest you check the various review sites. Also even the 2013 was really different than the Gunsmoke or BMX108. They are big mountain skis, with some rocker but normal camber underfoot. The Shiro remains a full rocker ski, no camber. Etc.

My understanding is that the 2014 shiro has no metal in it.

NO change other that NGT (New Graphic Technology) from 2013 to 2014 for the Shiro.

http://www.skinet.com/ski/gear/volkl-shiro-2014 is where it's stated. And I've heard elsewhere that it handles differently this year. But the site is typically obscure. I'd wait for a rep to say yes or no for sure.

They have a flatter and stiffer tail from 2014 onward.

Agreed, from 2014-15 model on, flatter & stiffer tail.

Much more pop out of the turn. Skis longer than the 2013-14 model (which skied short).

Other than the edges, the Shiro has had no metal in it.

I have skied both and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.  The 2015 does have a flatter tail but it is a very very subtle change.

I love the ski, whatever the version, and I am so glad Volkl didn't do away with it like many of there other great skis which are now missing from the line up or changed substantially.

There is absolutely no metal in any model year Shiro.

I could tell a difference in the 193.
