I had a great time!
Pace setter ran ~19... but he is our 3rd level and was carrying crap down the hill when he did it, without poles.
Turns out there are some racers here. Best time of the night was 17.89.
My group turned out to be a bunch of really experienced skiers. We ran 19.15/20.24/21.41/21.82/24.51
My first run was 25.54, so I knocked off almost a second on my last run. Of course, I was late and low for every turn, couldn't find the front of my boots, and either washed out or chattered out of my line every time...
We were done by 8:30 and spent the rest of the night practicing. The snow got harder and rutted up during practice, but my time stayed within a second of my race time so I guess that's something.
The top 3 gate were what gave everybody trouble, weird offset and spacing where you had to ski really slow but tight right at the start and some back uphill on the second gate, so a couple of us are going to find a place nobody is skiing this weekend and put down some tennis balls to ski around in a similar fashion. I don't think anybody will complain because... well... it's slow.
I will say this is the first time my skis have felt just completely inadequate to their task, even when I could keep them under me. So I guess now I'm in the market for a slalom skis. I think I might as well start having my paychecks direct deposited to a local ski shop.
