This. I don't think people realize how routine it is for employers (and anybody else interested in you) to find this stuff when you attach your name to it. I cringe when I see somebody using their name, or something easily identifiable as their name, or the same unique username that they have used all over the internet and listed a name and contact info in one of those.
Without going too far into what I do for a day job, it involves investigating fraud for insurance companies. I find out a LOT of information about people, including information they probably don't intend to share just by entering their name.
Fair warning, this searching becomes a habit, and when I run into people on the internet where I am trying to figure out what exactly their deal is, I'll often google them. Sometimes that reveals stuff they probably don't want to be sharing with the world.
Sharing stuff out of your facebook account gives people your name, and youtube now wants people to use their own name for accounts.
I get that people should stand behind their speech, but we aren't exactly running for congress here. I view this site as the kind of conversation I would have with a guy on a chairlift or a random conversation in bar, just with more emphasis on inbounds avalanches, helmets, and how wide everybody's skis should be.
